  1. Retired as Professor of Cryogenic Engineering from IIT Kharagpur; currently mentoring a research team at C V Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar.
  2. Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE), and winner of Life-time achievement award of Indian Cryogenics Council (ICC) and Distinguished Alumnus Award of IIT Kharagpur.
  3. Has supervised close to 30 Ph Ds in the field of cryogenic refrigeration equipment, and published over 100 papers in the best international journals.
  4. Specialist in the field of cryocoolers, specifically the GM and Pulse Tube coolers, the devices that serve as gate way to sub-Kelvin-temperature dilution refrigerators.
  5. Under his mentorship, and a grant from BRNS (DAE), the C V Raman team has reached temperature of 30 K, the lowest temperature attained by any team with fully indigenous device.
  6. Currently, with a grant from ISRO, the team is building a 2-stage Pulse Tube cryocooler to reach 10 K at no load, and 20 Watts@20K to support Cryopumps at ISRO.
  7. Their next target is 4.2 K using rare-earth regenerators.
